I, too, hesitate to comment on the crisis and cry inside at all the horrific acts of violence on innocents. I do not claim any depth of understanding of the political motivations that seem to be generations and generations of strife. All I see is with my heart- too many lives taken, homes that are sanctuaries destroyed, and traumatized families who will never be the same. I am a pacifist and wish only for peace on all sides.

I stand with your desire to stop the spread of violence and hatred. To denounce Hamas and Netanyahu. To protect our friends on both sides. And to hope one day there will be no sides and only peace.

Thank you for being here on this. It’s such a sensitive issue. The article has been kindly received so far. It meant the world to a couple of Jewish friends.

Hi Suzanne, I appreciate your sentiments and would call myself a pacifist as well.

However if you are only getting your news from the Australian ABC, assuming it should be a neutral source of information, unfortunately you are getting a pro Zionist/pro Benjamin Netanyahu right wing militarist government/pro genocide news feed. I imagine you saw the ABC's dismissal of a journalist over comments she made about Palestine's right to exist. The court upheld her wrongful dismissal case.

Most of our government media and institutions bow to well funded and well organized Zionist pressure. Please note I am not saying Jewish - I actually just wrote a letter to the Jewish Council of Australia thanking them for taking a stand against the appalling Special Envoy’s Plan to Combat Antisemitism which entrenches selective approaches to racism that serve political agendas.

I image you have seen how the Australia Council for the Arts acted on powerful Zionist advocacy via a MP to cancel the Arabic-Australian artist representing Australia at the Venice Biennial. After an inquiry he has been reinstated too. I too have Jewish friends in Australia and other parts of the world - they are horrified and frightened by what Israel is doing: genocide is viewable on all our screens, and preemptive "defensive" attacks on other nations threaten world peace for us all.

The playing field is not even, its not even a playing field Suzanne, and as Israel's IDF herds the homeless, grieving, starving Palestinians into sealed camps ( echoes of 2nd world war ghettos anyone?) the rhetoric and rally cry of those opposing this has to escalates reasonable protest has not made a dint in our Governments complicity, and there by our complicity in it.

Other countries are refusing trade, to send weapons, to play sport against, to cut diplomatic ties with a dangerous Rogue state. I saw a woman in Melbourne post on Facebook how she cried with joy and respect for the IDF and their brave actions and excellent planning of missions especially murdering Terhan scientists, state and military leaders via exploding phones. I commented that this was not a nice sentiment and she started attacking me saying I knew nothing about complex politics of keeping her homeland safe.

I would be more concerned about the covert actions of those supporting IDF actions from afar on social media and pressuring govt, media and institutions, than people at a rally or event expressing their outrage and feelings of powerlessness chanting "Death to the IDF" . I am fairly certain history will portray the IDF and Netanyahu the same way as Hitler and Nazi war criminals, and those who oppose it as voices for humanity.
